2017 will be the 9th year of the City of Houston’s Citizenship Month celebrating the “Many Faces of Houston”. There are three ways you and your Sister City can get involved – by sponsoring an event, by organizing an event and by participating in an event.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, Sister Cities of Houston President Harry Gee, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office Director Mr. and Mrs. Louis Huang and staff, along with Houston-Taipei Society President Daniel Chen and HTS member Jackson Chang, met at Houston Mayor, Sylvester Turner’s office to present a donation to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. On Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9:30 am – 11:15 am, the Houston-Taipei Society and volunteers will help with light landscaping duties to prepare Hermann Park for Spring Break visitors. Equipment and mulch will be provided.

The German Institute for the Southwest is now offering two German classes: one, the 10-week Saturday morning (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) German immersion classes for children and youths (6-16) in Rosenberg, Texas; and secondly, the German classes for adults on Saturday mornings (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) in The Woodlands.
The German American Chamber of Commerce – South, will host a luncheon and talk by Ambassador Boris Ruge, Minister and Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the German Consulate General, 1330 Post Oak Boulevard, Houston, TX 77056. He will speak on Getting Trade Policy Right – A German Perspective.
