Houston Iftar Dinner

The Houston Iftar Dinner is an annual tradition that brings together community leaders, faith representatives, international guests, and citizens of Houston to share in the blessings of Ramadan. Sister Cities of Houston is proud to support this special evening, which fosters interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, and cultural understanding. Through prayer, shared meals, and meaningful conversations, the event highlights Houston’s role as one of the most diverse cities in the United States. It serves as a platform to strengthen bonds across cultures, religions, and backgrounds, celebrating both our differences and our shared humanity.

Every year, the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Houston brings together families, friends, and visitors to celebrate the spirit of gratitude and community. Sister Cities of Houston proudly joins this vibrant tradition, showcasing the rich diversity and global connections that make our city unique. Our participation highlights Houston’s ties with its 19 sister cities worldwide, reminding everyone that we are part of a global family. Through colorful floats, cultural performances, and international themes, SCH contributes to the festive atmosphere while promoting unity, friendship, and cross-cultural understanding.

A sister city relationship is a formal partnership between two cities from different countries, aiming to promote cultural, educational, and civic exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and support shared goals.

Houston currently has 19 sister city associations.

We are a volunteer-based non-profit that collaborates with the City of Houston, civic organizations, international partners, and citizens to initiate cultural events, youth exchanges, seminars, delegations, and more.

Absolutely. We welcome volunteers, partners, and collaborative groups to support programs, host exchange delegations, assist in events, and contribute to our mission.
